Zachs Lane Swamp Via trains use this rail way first built in 1858 by the Brockville and  Ottawa Railway (B&O).  The tax payers of Canada paid as much subsidy as the passengers paid for each ride. Looking north west. Brockville and Ottawa Railway (B&O) originally from Brockville to Ottawa via Smith Falls as well as north to Almont, Renfrew, Pembroke  in 1876 on this line.. The tracks north of Smith Falls are not used.  Was part of Canada Central Railway (CCR) for a while. Via train tracks from Smith Falls to Ottawa.  The Via train can get up a lot of speed along here on Rosedale Rd. North. Via rail tracks from Brockville to Ottawa via Smith Falls.  Originally built as the Brockville and Ottawa Railway (B&O) on February 17, 1859, connected to the Grand Trunk Railway (GT) from Montreal to Toronto in Brockville.  Originally wide gauge rail, (5' 6"), and changed to standard guage of 4' 8 ' in 1880.
