Absolute star!!! Especialy Lee who seemed to be from Leeds branch at York Layertrophe on Saturday morning in early September. He was really resourceful, helpful and saved us after competiting company left us without a car we really needed at that time.
I just want to thank you again and hope there will be more people like you Lee

Amazing standard of cars, Always cleaned like brand new.

Woman in there needs to move faster, usually blaming her computer and others. Twice I've walked in and she's shouting on her mobile phone and I've had to wait. Manager seems decent though, always helped us.

The standard of the location and the cars gain it 5 stars.

Booked online 3 weeks ahead of booking to ensure car would be available on arrival. Upon arrival, customer service representative took a call while we were there waiting for her to finish...cool, I'm in a holiday mood I can look past that.

After she's done with the call, I present my license to her and was told to give her proof of address (utility bill or statement - must be hard copy) as the current address did not match what it was booked under (the reason for the mismatch is I have recently relocated). I'm sorry I didn't realise I should bring these statements with me on holiday...oh these people must have fun holidays!

Alas, I come up with a solution here...what if I email you this? (surprisingly, I file these weird and wonderful things in the cloud). No she replies, we only accept hard copies. So here I ask, ok what can we do about this then? She's like let me serve the people behind you. UMM...not sure what the training is like at Avis but some sort of apology could help in a circumstance like this. Rather than that she wants me to step aside so she can serve people who are behind me in the line...oh and to rub salt into the wound, she mentions that they have had this problem before with other car renters...so this is clearly nothing new for them...

So I ask the lady, how could we get a car? What is it that would enable me to hire the car. She glares at me 'no, we cannot help you' can you step aside so we can serve the person behind you.

So here I am fairly irritated, but still thinking more of how I could get a car to save this holiday...alas I had another solution...my friend who lives in York could come in and book a car (as he could bring documentation to verify address etc). Customer rep then tells me this isn't possible because of some 'stop sell' internal jargon thing. I'm sorry what's that I enquire?
So basically, they have a car allocated to me and no other cars available, but cannot transfer the rental to someone else because of their archaic internal systems. So here we are now, one car sitting in the lot that cannot be rented out because it's allocated to me but they can't let someone else have it since online it is booked to me.

Actually, my favourite part was when the customer rep told me, you're going to have to tell AVIS this while she is sitting in front of me in a red AVIS sweater...at that point I realised I was dealing with incompetence. She brought me down to her level and beat me with experience.

Oh another fun fact, their motto is try harder. They should really seek to lower expectations here.

Feeling so defeated and really keen to get some fresh air, I walked down the road to Enterprise. They offered me a car and I was out the door in 10 mins.

I have just been denied to pick up a car due to needing two proof of addresses. Their website requires id and proof of payment not even address. I had my licence and a DBS record which is 2 days old. I'm really disgusted and it's pathetic. I've had to cancel two important appointments due to this. I've got booking confirmation brought on what was needed and still treated like junk. I will never use this service again. No wonder people use Enterprise more.
