We went to this restaurant when meeting up with friends who were staying in the hotel. We sat in the lounge area near the café bar which was relaxed and comfortable.
Helpfully the waiter came over and told us we could order from any of the three menus on offer without having to move from where we were sitting. There was therefore a wide choice available, selecting from either the carvery, the Asian food from Sampans or from the main restaurant menu.
Prices are quite reasonable and the carvery looked very good and a great value for money. If you’ve got a taste card then worth taking it as you can get discount on all of the menus.
However, I was extremely disappointed with the Asian vegetarian dish of spinach and potato that I went for as it was literally just 3 boiled tatties with cooked spinach over the top, unbelievably bland. It was effectively a large side dish and had no hint of Asian cuisine about it. Others had burgers and other Asian dishes that actually looked ok so maybe I just made the wrong choice. There’s not a great selection of starters or desserts on offer either.
The service was very good and it’s a great place for family meal as kids can run about as it’s all quite open and relaxed. Perhaps not the place if you’re looking for some quality dining but not bad for a hotel chain such as this.
