I heard about this place from a friend who went to their launch so we decided to check it out ourselves to see if it lived up to the recommendation and I have to say it's a real find. I don't normally write reviews but the wine, (my husband and I had a bottle of Don David), was excellent and made all the nicer by the really lovely atmosphere that Shelley creates. The area has been crying out for a place like this and we'll definitely be back. Also, the home made pea and ham soup - delicious! Definitely five stars and well deserved too

Tucked away in Preston Drove between Preston Park and Fiveways lies The Purple Grape, a hidden gem!
My wife and I liked the idea of trying an organic wine so we spoke to the owner Shelley who recommended the Michel Torrino, Malbec Cuma Organic, priced at £8.99. We planned on taking the bottle away with us but when we discovered the corkage fee was just £4.50 so we decided to crack it open then and there and enjoy it alongside a Charcuterie and Cheese Platter, I think this was £7 but not sure, I do know however that it was absolutely delicious! I patriculary enjoyed the goats cheese which was so velvety smooth and creamy on the palate. Cuma is the range of organic wines produced by Michel Torino Estate. Both the practices in the vineyards and the winery have followed strictly controlled and certified organic processes. Shelley explained that the name ‘Cuma’ means pure and clean in the ancient language of Argentina's Aymara people who inhabited the Cafayate region in the Inca's time. The wine was a wonderfully complex medium-bodied wine with exuberant blueberry and plum flavours. It was full of spicy character and flavours of rosemary and dates were well pronounced. It really did deliver and we enjoyed it so much we purchased another bottle to drink when we got home. When you think what you pay to drink a bottle of house wine in a restaurant or bar this really is good value for money as you experience a bottle of wine that is far superior to a mass produced chain one! We will definitely be returning!
