This place is a return to the past from the beginning of the time when a message was sent by walking or by horse. Pony express, trains till the modern ways to transmit a postcard. I saw the beautiful uniforms in the different epochs; it was all so engaging and emotional I immediately thought of the stories of my father, a retired postman, and my grandfather's life, a postman too.
One of those who headed the museum told me about the building where once the old post office was. Thanks to him and to all those who work to make this museum truly extraordinary!

One of the lesser known museums in Stockholm is the Postal museum located in the old town. It is a nice story about the Swedish postal history, uniforms and stamps. It is inexpensive and you can easily spend two hours walking around the museum and there is a nice restaurant as well and a pretty good section for kids. A very nice speciality museum.

Small but great for kids: multiple playrooms in basement about postage

This museum is highly recommended to those who want to learn about how how sweden transformed itself into a world leader in postal services starting from the end of 17th century!
