Great food, amazing beer selection. Good value for money as well. The staff are friendly and the location very atmospheric.

My daughter is a brewer and we visited The Netherlands in August to tour breweries. She discovered Slot Oostende and reserved a room for us. Our experience was unbelievably fantastic. It was a treasure to find, our room was lovely, clean, restful, a wonderful blend of old and new. We arrived wet and tired and were welcomed with open arms and a smile by the lovely and courteous hostess. While my daughter went on a tour of the facility I sat in the restaurant and warmed up with real hot chocolate, made with Callebaut chocolate and steamed milk. After packets of dry chocolate, sugar and milk in the States it was delightful. Our food was wonderful, Servings were generous. Dessert - OMG, the dessert! We both loved Slot Oostende and if we had the time would have loved to stay much longer. The brewer was so wonderful to stay late to meet my daughter. Our waiter was well trained and could not do enough to ensure a delicious, satisfying experience. Breakfast was too much to eat. We purchased wonderful gifts, the white and red hand/bar towels are the best. Everything we purchased and shipped arrived intact, not even a broken bottle, further, they even helped us with boxes in order to ship. The garden is wonderful, note the interesting trees with support under the greenery. Brickwork indescribable, very skilled workmanship. The creativity and thought that went into Slot Oostende is remarkable. Many thanks to our wonderful hosts. We will be back! .

Good vibe, enough food and drinks to choose from(lots of beers). Beautiful historic place. It's has higher prices then average.

First off, it's a lovely location with a lot of potential. They have a wide selection of beers available, and you'll surely be able to find one you like.
They also have a very large menu, which is most likely the root of the issues we experienced. Basically, the food just isn't up to the standard one might expect from such a lovely location. It's bland, unseasoned, and simply not properly prepared. In particular, the Italian dishes were just not good. The tomato sauce on the pizzas tasted like it came straight out of the carton without any seasoning, which caused the whole pizza to taste like plain tomato sauce.
One member of our party (of four) did enjoy their meal. This was also the only non-Italian meal we ordered. I'd suggest focusing on the more Belgian-inspired food and getting rid of the Italian options altogether. It also goes better with beer and the setting.
If they did this, I'm certain they could greatly improve the quality of their food.
In general the wait staff was pleasant and attentive albeit inexperienced but I'm sure that'll improve over time.
Conclusion: go there for drinks and a look around, not for food.
