Amazing place. Had a lot of fun! You dive into old dutch ways and it's awesome. There is a boat display, old cheese store and open-air food carts. We even tried some mackerel and salmon smoked the 'old-fashioned-way' in some sort of barrel. As far as museums go, this one was among most entertaining. Kids would love it!

I am a middle-aged fellow from Indonesia. For me, visiting this place brought a lot of memory from the Dutch colonial/ VOC era in Indonesia. And that's not just the look and feel, but also the amazing gadgets from the old days.
The entrance price is quite reasonable, and to get the most of it, you should spend at least a few hours in there. There are good places to get food, so you don't need to worry about that department.
I think this place has something for everyone. Even if you can't care less about the historical value, you can always enjoy the view.

Open air museum. The best idea for having a great & right view for what happened more than 100 years ago with floods in these areas. A place full of interesting history.

It is a Netherland village as a museum open air, the buildings were transported there from different regions of Netherlands. Here you can learn about history and daily life of people 100 years ago. Go inside old school, cinema, houses, church, pharmacy, craft shops and visit workshops, where to learn how to make sea knots and look how is cooking salmon or herring and buy delicious smoked fish for 2,5-3 euro per one. Also you can visit indoor museum that working till 17.00 (as almost everything here) and have a lunch in one of cafe.

Go late in the afternoon for a 50% discount. They did a good job setting everything up, looks authentic. Good for kids. Very large outdoor museum. Lots of walking required. But, we found it kind of boring after the first little bit.
