This really isn't a review of the hotel itself but of the rules and payment procedures. I made a reservation two months before and I had to pay for the first night at that moment. And when I had to cancel, two weeks before the reservation, I had to give them 8 different pieces of information about myself and my bank before they would return my money. Then, they end the conversation with telling me that it will take 15 to 20 work days before the money will be deposited in my account again, and I live in Mexico. So it's not an international transaction. Too many stupid rules for a hotel in crappy Tampico. They're acting as if we are staying at the best hotel in Hawaii.

Arenas del Mar currently is considerably run down and asking a five star price to stay. They are installing an elevator and making general improvements but not currently worth the price they are asking. The pools are pretty nice and the beach is great. The restaurant is pretty good with good food and the waiters are "five star". These guys make sure you are taken care of! Not a bad place to stay but not five star! At best a three dressed up as a nine!

Spending time at Arenas del Mar is ALWAYS a wonderful experience when you have a membership because you have free access to all the extremities, and the food is exquisite for the price that they ask for. Last time we ate there, we ordered this food called ceviche which contains various types of seafood; it is a dish I recommend to anyone who goes there. The service is always nice, and the staff are very loving. Furthermore, the view is gorgeous.
