Mixed review - the main area of the hotel by the beach is very nice and the beach access is terrific. The food is below average and the hotel side across from the main hotel is absolutely terrible. Not clean, very old, awkward access in the bathroom. Terrible beds and bed sheets. Would NEVER return! Would give it a 1 or 0 star - except for the Beach side - it is mush nicer. So, if you choose this place call and make sure you room on the Beach side of the road!

Very kind staff, good menu at restaurants (but You may skip a la carte restaurant, little bit pretentious and nothing special in the carte). 2 pools, but small space for children in them. Sandy beach with nice viev of island and Chania. Rooms, well, like in Greece hotels, nothing special, nothing appealing. All to all - goodplace for sleep and eat, and rather for small time at the beach and pool.

In general the hotel is very nice, we had a good time. The rooms are good enough and clean, but nothing special.
The service is excellent, everybody is very friendly and eager to make your stay pleasant. The Guest-Relations lady Marilena is there for everyone in the morning, flying like a butterfly from table to table, and starts your day with a smile. Service at the bar and restaurant is very friendly and attentive.
The guys and girls of the animation team have offers the whole day, from Volleyball to Zumba on the beach, to a chilled round of darts or painting. They try to activate everyone, without being to pushy.
The beach is very nice, with shallow warm water (we were here in August), but also good for swimming. The water is clean and you don't find seaweed or rocks on the ocean ground.
We upgraded to all inclusive service for the minimum period of three days a couple of times, leaving brakes in between when we went for daytrips to the beautiful town of Chania nearby or to other beaches.
The all inc. upgrade from half-board is 13 Euro per day and person (as of August 2017), and is well worth it. I would have paid even more, if the hotel would include better quality alcohol. The local wine and beer offered isn't really great, the cocktails and longdrinks do their job, but you can taste, that it's the cheap version. This is something that could be improved on. But still, to enjoy Cafe Frappe and get bottles of water from the beach bar without carrying your wallet around helps with relaxing.
The food at the buffet offers a wide variety of local and international dishes, in our week so far there was something new to be found everyday.
The other guests are a mixture of all nations, and in general very pleasant, many families with children, not a lot of "party people". 😉
Wi-Fi is not for free, and after paying 15 Euros for 10 days I was disappointed that the signal in my room was very weak, sometimes having me walk around the room with my mobile phone looking for a spot to get my Whatsapp-Messages to be sent. Free Wi-Fi is offered in even the tinyest of bungalow places in Thailand, with better quality. A nice hotel like the Santa Marina Beach Hotel should think about taking that extra step towards costumer service.
All in all we had a good time so far and look forward to the next couple of days.

Welcome to the Santa Marina Beach Hotel lottery! If you have a room close the lobby of the hotel, I'm sure it's great! But I wouldn't know, because I got a room on the outskirts where it will probably take me 45 minutes to post this review, or a quick trip down the lobby where the wifi works much better. If that's okay with you, great! But that's not all! If you're unlucky enough, you'll get a room with no AC! In the middle of August! But that's okay because you will be provided with a small fan as a consolation prize. Enjoy!!!

Everything is perfect. I expected the best and got that. I did lot of research picking up the hotel (traveling with kids) and this has met my wishes. Very, very nice staff, great food, nice & clean peaceful room with a pool. Beach is good for the kids, sandy and clean. Sad thing is that we must leave the hotel and Crete! Hoping to come back! Thank you so much 😀⚘
