Very old synagogue, not in use for many years. A bit overpriced, and the museum is too tiny and lacks of infos.

This is supposedly the oldest working Sephardic synagogue in Europe. The sanctuary and small museum are a moving experience, and feels as old as the walls that contain the city. Despite the massive fortification that surrounds the peninsula, this would not prevent expulsion and persecution of the local jewish community at various times throughout the ages, from medieval to 20th century. This communities history is reflected in the architecture, furnishings and curated artifacts of this small but important landmark.

Lucky enough to catch a Friday night service in this beautiful old Dubrovnik synagogue followed by a delicious kiddush hosted by the local community.
