The food was spectacular, but the real treat was chatting with the owner as she took us through the menu. She recommended their Saturday special (Caribbean style rice and beans, with incredible chicken and salad) as well as the Tuna bowl. Both were wonderful, as were the ceviche and the recommended drinks (Tamarind juice and cane sugar water with ginger and limon).
The environment is casual, seating is outside under a covered pavilion. No hurry, no extra formality, just really, really good food and service.
The prices were lower than many meals we've had throughout Costa Rica, and the food was the best by far.
I cannot recommend this highly enough.

this place is totally amazing and voted our favorite restaurant by the entire group. there is a special offering on saturday night. get the sashimi if they have it. Jay is such an awesome dude and his wife and son at taco star are super cool. thanks for a great experience and amazing food.
