We booked an Avis car for pick up from Thunder Bay Int'l Airport (YQT) Aug 20, 2017 01:00 AM arriving on Air Canada #8547. The flight was delayed and did not arrive until 02:30 AM. An Avis representative was not at the desk nor was any information provided as to whom to contact when we arrived.
Both Enterprise and Hertz had reps wait for the delayed flight.
We spoke with the Avis manager, Meghan Maenpaa, and were quite abruptly told that "customers do not come first at Avis". Ms. Maenpaa did not entertain any thought of reimbursing our taxi fare nor providing any sort of apology or compensation.
In our case, we where staying in Thunder Bay and had accommodation with family. However, many people arrive in Thunder Bay and must carry on to outlaying areas. The Avis counter does not open until 08:30 AM, the airport shuts down and everyone must leave; hmm....what to do? Book through Enterprise or Hertz!!
