Stayed last night for the parade of lights. We had an adjoining room with another family. Our rooms were not ready when we arrived. I know they were busy and full that is not the issue. our friends got into their rooms at 3:45. We went up and waited in their room so we didn't have to stay in the lobby and wait. We didn't get into our room until 4:15....... check in is 3pm.
my issue is our friends in the adjoining room got a written card apologizing and free breakfast. We didn't even get an apology!!! when we got our key finally all that was said was the hotel was full and these things happen.
Some advice. if you are going to treat customers so differently make sure that at least they don't have adjoining rooms. imagine our surprise in the morning when our friends got a free breakfast for a shorter wait and we just got our bill.
This was our third year at the parade and it is a family tradition. we will come next year just stay at a different hotel.

Clean rooms, great food and within walking distance to many shops, restaurants and sights. Staff were friendly and helpful. My folks and I enjoyed our brief stay.

Fantastic hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms clean. Great service. Close to everything downtown.

Spent six nights there at the end of the summer Can't express how great the staff is, kind ,courteous, willing to go that extra mile. We couldn't tip them till the end of the week but that didn't seem to matter---the service didn't rest on how much money you did or didn't give them . Wonderful people, they do Halifax proud. At the end it's the staff that make or break a hotel---and they made it

Old hotel that smells funny. It's as though the cleaning staff use some sort of "carpet fresh" or cheap perfume to try to hide the smell. Having said that, the beds are comfortable and it's in a good location. Probably better options for a little more money. The staff was helpful and friendly.
