I was looking forward to having dinner here,
However my experience was anything but 5 star.
The carpark was dark and had very little to no lighting to see where we were walking
The expectation of walking into the restaurant via a grand entrance to a mansion to which it did not have ... But what it did have is a badly signed garden path which leads around to a dark and uninviting back door entrance with poorly maintained brick pavement which my wife twisted her ankles in high heels due to the poor lighting then had to navigate the slippery stairs that lead out of the garden down into the back door.
Once we entered the back door to where I assume you should be met for seating we were ignored by no more than 4 staff members.
Once seated on plastic chairs at a plastic table with no linen we were told the evening specials by what we thought was our waitress only to be again less the 2 minutes later by another waiter which took our order of drinks and entrees.
1 hour later we had no drinks nor did we have any entrees on our table.
There is no excuse that I would have excepted... Gorden Ramsey could not fix this place.
What a disappointment

Beautiful grounds, nice service, a little pricey 😊

My husband and I after 25 years of marriage still take care of our marriage, bearing in mind the every ready rescue of a "Date Night".
This time I asked him to choose, as he asked me, where did I want to go. As we have had already, quite a few expensive but lacking nights at my suggestion, I thought to give my husband his choice, while honestly, letting me off the hook for continuing bad choices, with a whisp of romatic regret, for all the Resturants that I chose.
Time for him to choose.
Well, he talked between 2 restaurants. First choice "Gipps".
Our daughter was married there 2 years before. A never heard of "troublesome free Wedding" with the amazing Cath, whom is so skilled and so wonderful the only problem with our daughters Wedding was that there wasnt a "pause button", just to enjoy each moment, as she effortlessly arranged everything. The only difficulty, being the delay in which choice our daughter had to choose from.
Anyway back to our date night, my husbands choice, and my thought to leave a message, maybe she would remember us (our wonderful family night) or not, but most of all, enjoy our date, the environment remembered, mostly to appreciate each other.
While we enjoyed predinner drinks, that lovely lady turned up for a cuddle. We swapped memories, all of a sudden on our date, we were surrounded by precious memories of our family, our future. Wow! I felt gratified, almost continued.
Our night ended like this, we had the best steak meal, ever, in all our history of dinning around the world and here resting, in Toowoomba. The individual taste of everything on our plate, wanted me to ask how do you cook like this, I wish I did, while my Husband said I wish she did to.
Seriously, go taste the Granchester Steak with wild mushrooms, etc etc, every item on our plate had its separate taste, sounds easy, until the mushroom sauce isnt a taste extension of an incredibally for once cooked steak, medium but more rare, as ordered. The vegetables did taste like vegetables, but unique, nor did the Jus disguise everything on the plate, that tasted nice overall anyway. Seriously, Ive never had this taste sensation, nor explosion in my mouth, that ended with the stomach protesting, before the palate did.
A new talented Chef that apparently, would get cranky if you asked him out, to congraulate his finery talent and our sincere pleasure.
Wow at last Toowoomba, we have the best and "finery" palate Chef here to experience.
If hes that grumpy let me know how u all taste this fine dinning please.

We chose this place due to its description in the local guides re being situation in a old mansion. The actual restaurant is based next to the main building and does not offer the same old charm. We waited a fair bit for our meals which is understandable given that it was the flower festival, however we did not expect it to be that long. We would have appreciated a heads up as we were quite hungry. I had the beetroot gnocchi which was absolutely amazing. I would highly recommend it. The rest of the group enjoyed the steak, beef burger and cumber veal special, however the latter was a small portion. The drinks were good, except for the cider. The service was however lacking.
