Spacious gym with lots of international people who know what they are doing. Good vibe

A place bigger than I expected ( 3 floors ), with an almost complete variety of machines ( it even has squat racks! ). Don't go during busy hours and you can probably have all the machines for yourself. The place is kept clean although the toilets are a bit messy sometimes.
But you should also keep in mind the cheap price of gym:
7 euros for daily pass, ~20 euro for monthly ( keep in mind prices are not checked nor updated ). An added benefit is that with the monthly pass you can access all the basic fit gyms in Amsterdam and Netherlands ( with gyms also in France, Spain, Belgium and Luxembourg ).

This gym's fine. I go there 3x a week since back when it was called HealthCity. I miss some stuff from HealthCity, notably the sauna, but it's much cheaper now so it's understandable that they removed it.

The other reviewers here complaining about e.g. having to sit on the floor have out of date info. The gym was completely renovated to the better after it became Basic Fit, during that renovation a lot of stuff sucked. E.g. the showers were out for almost a month, and there wasn't any place to put your clothes in the locker room.

That's now all been fixed.

I have lived in Amsterdam for 10 years in 4 different locations, and have been a member of 5 gyms. This basic fit is the dirtiest and absolute worst gym I have ever been in. It's so disappointing because this gym previously was a health city gym. Sure, it more expensive - but it's in the center of Amsterdam and that's what you expect. Now, there is no place to even sit in the locker rooms. People are sitting naked and sweaty on the carpeted floor. Half of the sinks and toilets in the bathrooms haven't been working over the past months. It's so close to my house - and in rainy, cold Amsterdam having a gym close by is what ensures I go four or five times a week. But this place is absolutely so horrible I would prefer to get fat and die of heart disease at a young age.

Oh, and the people that work there know how bad it is. You find fitter and happier people working at the night shift at McDonald's. It's a sad excuse for a gym - I have no doubt that you actually put your health at risk going in this horrible place!
