The Medicinal Garden, that unique little corner of the Beatrix Park: a medicinal herb garden typically filled with plants which were once used for their healing qualities (and some still do). The garden is well kept, down to the last detail, by a team of volunteers - many are very knowledgeable..
About the origin: "The Artsenijhof is a medicinal herb garden, laid out in 1972 for the opening of de Floriade" (Quote from the site.)
In the Artsenijhof it feels like you're back in times of old - an enclave enclosed by clipped hedges, the proverbial oasis of peace and quiet, no busy buzz. The signs in the plant beds display the names together with the name of the ailment the plant would cure. In spring and summer the garden is a sea of colourful bloom and when autumn comes it typically bathes in a golden glow.

(I had supplied the original review in Dutch, BUT... Google WILL chuck in its own translation, which is a monstrosity (in regard to grammar and it adds completely wrong personal names), as well as overriding my own reviews, right smack at the top. The only way to prevent this is to refrain from writing in Dutch. Thus Google forces me to betray my native tongue. Methinks Google is worth a 1 star rating for this feat.)
